Important Instructions

• Candidates must complete the new SSC One-Time Registration before applying.

• Class 12 candidates whose results are pending on the last date are not eligible unless the result has been declared by 07 October 2026.
• The application fee is non-refundable.
• Candidates should retain their application details for future reference.

• Candidates should ensure that they meet the post-specific qualification requirements before applying.
• Only male candidates are eligible for vacancies reported in the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

The SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment has approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies.

The vacancies are for:

• Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
• Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
• Data Entry Operator (DEO)
• Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’

At present, SSC has provided the combined tentative vacancy figure. The detailed post-wise and category-wise vacancy breakup will be released later.

SSC does not provide a consolidated state-wise or zone-wise vacancy figure for these posts. Candidates should check the SSC website for subsequent vacancy updates.

SSC CHSL Salary 2026

The salary/pay level differs according to the post.

The actual gross and in-hand salary will depend on the post, place of posting and applicable Central Government allowances. SSC's notification specifies the pay levels rather than a fixed in-hand salary.

Application Fee

The SSC CHSL application fee is ₹100.

The fee can be paid online through:

• BHIM UPI
• Net Banking
• Debit Card

The fee must be paid by 08 October 2026 at 11:00 PM.

Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against another examination.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University for most SSC CHSL posts.

LDC / JSA

Candidates applying for LDC/JSA posts must have passed:

12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’

For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in certain specified departments, candidates must have passed:

12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board.

For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in other departments, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board.

Candidates who appeared for their Class 12 examination can also apply, provided their qualifying result has been declared by 07 October 2026. A result that is still under process does not satisfy the eligibility requirement.

Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is:

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 27 Years

The age is calculated as on 01 August 2026.

Candidates should have been born:

• Not earlier than 02 August 1999
• Not later than 01 August 2008

Age Relaxation

Age relaxation is applicable according to the Government of India rules and the conditions specified in the SSC CHSL notification.

The SSC CHSL selection process consists primarily of two tiers of Computer Based Examination, followed by the applicable skill/typing requirements and document verification.

Tier-I Examination

Tier-I is an objective-type Computer Based Examination.

Duration: 60 minutes

There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I.

Tier-II Examination

Tier-II is conducted in multiple sections.

• Reasoning and General Intelligence

Section-II

• English Language and Comprehension
• General Awareness

Section-III

• Computer Knowledge Test

Section-IV

• Skill Test / Typing Test

The Computer Knowledge Test is qualifying in nature, while the applicable Skill Test/Typing Test is conducted according to the post.

There is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Sections-I and II of Tier-II. Candidates must qualify in the prescribed sections to proceed further.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam Pattern

English Language

Questions test the candidate's basic knowledge of English language and comprehension.

General Intelligence

Questions are designed to test reasoning ability and general intelligence.

Quantitative Aptitude

Questions are based on basic arithmetic and quantitative concepts.

General Awareness

Questions cover general awareness and current affairs-related knowledge.

Typing / Skill Test

The applicable skill or typing test depends on the post.

For LDC/JSA, a Typing Test is applicable.

For DEO, a Skill Test is applicable.

Candidates must meet the prescribed typing or data-entry requirements applicable to their post.

• Valid photo ID proof
• Recent passport-size photograph and signature

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.

Step 1 – One-Time Registration

Visit the SSC website and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR).

Candidates should note that OTR generated on the earlier SSC website will not work on the new SSC website.

Step 2 – Login

Use the registration credentials to log in to the SSC portal.

Step 3 – Select CHSL Examination

Find the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 and click on the application link.

Step 4 – Fill Application Form

Enter the required:

• Personal details
• Educational details
• Category details
• Examination centre preferences
• Other required information

Step 5 – Upload / Capture Photograph

Follow the instructions provided in the application module for the photograph and other required information.

Step 6 – Pay Fee

Candidates who are required to pay the fee should complete the online payment before the deadline.

Step 7 – Submit Application

Check all information carefully and submit the application.

Step 8 – Save Application

Download or print the submitted application form for future reference.

Aadhaar-Based Authentication

Candidates can opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during the OTR process.

This authentication is optional and can simplify certain identification and photograph-related requirements at the examination venue.

Candidates should follow the instructions displayed on the SSC application portal.

Application Correction Window

SSC has provided a correction window from:

14 October 2026 to 16 October 2026

Eligible candidates can make corrections/re-submit their applications according to the conditions specified by SSC.

A maximum of two modifications/re-submissions is allowed during the correction window.

Only applications for which the fee has been received, or fee-exempt applications, are eligible for correction.

Examination Centres

Candidates can select examination centres according to the options provided by SSC.

Candidates can select up to three examination centres in order of preference.

The final centre allotment will be made by SSC according to its examination arrangements.
